TABER ABRASION TESTER

1

2

There is various methods for the determination of the abrasion resistance of any material one of the methods is by resistance to wear by abrasive wheels. The progressive loss of material from the operating surface of a plastic material resulting from the cutting or scratching action of the abrasive wheel.

The basic principle of this test is, two abrasive wheels are applied to the test specimen with a specified load. The wear obtained after rotation of the test specimen through a specified number of revolutions is assessed by an appropriate procedure (e.g. mass loss, change in optical properties.)

The ASIAN Taber Abrasion Resistance Tester made on a rigid metallic base plate there is a test specimen support disc which is flat and fixed to its driving shaft supported by two ball bearings. This disc is rotates with the help of a gearbox and a motor. The number of rotation is controlled by a four digit pre-set digital counter. There are two abrasive wheels supported by two symmetrical arms that is oscillated freely about a horizontal axis. The wheels are rotates freely by means of two ball bearings on each wheel. There are the number of counter weights for apply the force on the test specimen at the time of the testing. The mounting wheel has cylindrical shape and specified dimensions. There is a vacuum arrangement for removal of the wear debris is including two exhaust nozzles above test specimen wear zone.

All the parts of the instruments are painted, powder coated or chrome platted to give the instrument corrosion resistance long life.
